The Center/Willow River Farms
Gingersnaps came into being at the
request of Barbara Bush.

It began like this. Mrs. Bush was visiting her husband's office one day where a Bush volunteer named Alicia Lee, also a volunteer for The Center, was working. Mrs. Bush suggested that The Center/Willow River Farms make Gingersnaps their project as well as Fruitcakes. When asked if she would support the project Mrs. Bush said that she would be happy to.

The work began to develop a recipe that was crisp and spicy, with lots of taste. We were successful to the point that the orders were overwhelming and the volunteers overwhelmed. That was the holiday season of 1998 and the rest, as they say, is history.
