Gingersnaps ETC. is 100% volunteer driven.

All proceeds from the sales of products on the website go to enrich the lives of the 600 adults served daily by The Center. The GINGERSNAPS ETC. volunteers have sold more than 4 million dollars of their products and contributed more than 2 million dollars to The Center.

THE CENTER is a private not-for-profit United Way agency, which has for more than 60 years served children and adults through educational, residential and work training programs.

Gingersnaps came into being at the request of Barbara Bush

It began like this. Mrs. Bush was visiting her husband’s office one day where a Bush volunteer named Alicia Lee, also a volunteer for The Center, was working. Mrs. Bush suggested that The Center make Gingersnaps their project as well as Fruitcakes. When asked if she would support the project Mrs. Bush said that she would be happy to.

The work began to develop a recipe that was crisp and spicy, with lots of taste. We were successful to the point that the orders were overwhelming and the volunteers overwhelmed. That was the holiday season of 1998 and the rest, as they say, is history.

We now have orders and re-orders from friends, and friends of friends from corporations, doctors, lawyers and people from all over the world. More than 4 million dollars of product has been sold and most importantly, 2 million dollars have been given to The Center to enrich the lives of those we serve.

Gingersnaps and Cheesesnaps have been recommended by and featured in the Houston Chronicle, The New York Times, Wine Spectator, Saveur Magazine and other publications across the country.

All of these products come in gold tins, which are decorated with gilded handmade paper ornaments made by our artisans.
